What was the problem?

The department lacked hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, and an opportunity to test Cursor opened in the company.

What did I do?

I led the department into a Cursor test and further invested time to demonstrate Cursor works.

How did I do it?

  1. I led the department into a 3-week pilot program for Cursor with a subgroup of volunteers.
  2. I conducted a comprehensive retrospective to gather candid feedback from each department member—capturing both wins and pain points.
  3. I synthesized retrospective insights into a shared document highlighting key benefits, workflow adjustments needed, and team concerns.
  4. I created proof-of-concept tools using Cursor (scripts, utilities, helpers) to demonstrate tangible productivity gains and build confidence in the technology.

What did I achieve?

I successfully transitioned the department to use Cursor as a secondary IDE, with 90% adoption across my squads. The tools built with Cursor became reusable assets across other people.
