Promote Mid Android to Senior
What was the problem?
A mid-level Android engineer on the team had clearly demonstrated senior-level technical skills and impact over two years, but lacked a formal promotion path and needed leadership alignment to advance to the senior level.
What did I do?
I created a promotion pitch that documented the engineerās readiness for a senior role, making the case to leadership based on concrete evidence of his technical contributions and impact.
How did I do it?
- I reviewed the engineerās work over the past two years, identifying patterns of senior-level decisions, mentoring, and technical leadership.
- I documented specific examples of complex problems he solved, technical initiatives he led, and how he helped other engineers level up (including myself at the beginning).
- I presented the pitch to leadership with clear reasoning for why this promotion made sense for the engineer and the organization.
What did I achieve?
The engineer was promoted to Senior Android Engineer, recognizing work that was already happening and providing the title and compensation to match his contributions. The promotion validated the engineerās growth trajectory and opened space for him to take on increasingly strategic technical leadership.
